Firefighters rescued four people in Isla Vista late Saturday night — including a female stuck on a cliff and three males attempting to help her who instead became trapped by rising tides.

Personnel from the Santa Barbara County Fire Department were dispatched at 11:17 p.m. to the 6700 block of Del Playa, county fire Engineer Mike Gray said.

The female had gone over the edge of the oceanside bluffs and got stuck approximately 10 to 15 feet down on a ledge, Gray said.

The three males attempting to rescue her while trying to access her location via the beach below became trapped themselves due to rising water from the high tide, Gray added.

Firefighters helped all four reach safety while using a rope system for the rescue, Gray said.

No one was injured in the incident, Gray added.
