Getting to Know Hillside, a complimentary lunch-and-learn program, returns at noon Wednesday, Feb. 15. It is held behind the main Hillside building at Harmony House, 1235 Veronica Springs Road, Santa Barbara.
The monthly event takes place on the third Wednesday of the month with upcoming dates of March 15, April 19, May 17 and June 21. Advance registration is required. RSVP to Elizabeth Arendt, Hillside’s development assistant, at earendt@hillsidesb.org or 805-687-0788, ext. 110. Feel free to leave a voicemail.

During the hour-long program, guests will have lunch, prepared by Martin Jimenez, Hillside’s director of dietary; watch a video overview of the residential community; hear remarks from Michael S. Rassler, Hillside president/CEO; and get an update on the Hillside Community Project, followed by a Q&A.
There also will be a tour of the main building and grounds, so attendees are encouraged to wear comfortable walking shoes.
Lisa Wilcox, whose son JP has called Hillside home for the last six years, is hosting the Feb. 15 Getting to Know Hillside event. Wilcox, a Hillside Board member, said she is inviting her friends to the luncheon.
“Since my friends are helping me organize a pickleball tournament on April 15 as a fundraiser for Hillside, I am inviting them to attend Getting to Know Hillside,” she said. “I want them to see how JP is thriving, thanks to Hillside staff, and because of that, my husband Jim and I have peace of mind.”
For 78 years, Hillside has served hundreds of individuals living with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Hillside’s 19th Annual Sunset Soirée By-the-Sea fundraiser is set for 5-8:30 p.m. Saturday, June 3 at Santa Barbara’s Cabrillo Pavilion, 1118 E. Cabrillo Blvd.
