Dos Pueblos girls beach volleyball cruised to a 5-0 sweep of Rio Mesa on Thursday in Goleta, dropping just one set along the way.

The No. 1 Charger duo of Allie Ben-Yaacov and Char Welch shook off a first-set loss to earn a victory in three, 18-21, 21-19, 15-13.

At the No. 2 matchup, Dos Pueblos’ Ruby Dunlop and Gia Haas made quick work of their opponents in two sets, 21-14, 21-9.

Faith Harrison and Kyra Sample kept it going for the Chargers with a two-set win at the threes, 21-14, 21-10.

On court four, Mia Taylor and Marley Wilcher continued Dos Pueblos’ winning ways with a 21-17, 21-15 victory.

Athena Bardakos and Moana Martinez rounded out the sweep for the Chargers with a 21-7, 21-17 win in the No. 5 showdown.

San Marcos 5, Oxnard 0

The Royals continued to roll through Channel League play with a sweep of the Yellow Jackets on Thursday in Oxnard.

Cora Loomer and Evyn Miller remained steady at the ones spot for San Marcos with a 21-9, 21-11 win.

“Miller, who received the majority of serves, had a really nice offensive outing. The forest that will grow from all the balls she planted in the sand today will be dense,” San Marcos head coach Tim Loomer said.

Meanwhile, Alina Stapf and Reese Paskin had no trouble with their matchup at the twos, 21-15, 21-9.

“In the second game, the girls focused on setting tight and hitting hard. The result was some impressive blasts from Paskin. It was nice to see the girls playing with a good rhythm,” Tim Loomer said.

On court three, Charlotte Hastings and Kelsey Rowe came together to earn a 21-3, 21-19 win.

“Both Hastings and Rowe had some really nice kills and in the first game their serving was potent,” Tim Loomer said.

Malia Hetrick and Jordan Schmoller turned in a dominant performance for San Marcos in the No. 4 matchup, 21-9, 21-9.

“Following the theme of strong offense, Schmoller benefitted from the accurate setting of Hetrick, repeatedly hammering kills across both games,” Tim Loomer said.

Sam Macko and Maddie Pallad wrapped up the matchup for the Royals with a 21-16, 21-9 at the fives.

“Macko and Pallad played consistently in the games today. They communicated well, did a nice job of controlling the ball when it was on their side of the net, and effectively used the wind for their serving and hitting,” Tim Loomer said.

San Marcos (21-2, 11-0 Channel League) will be off next week for Spring Break.
