Dos Pueblos girls golf began its season with a non-league victory over Lompoc High on Tuesday at La Purisima Golf Course in Lompoc.

The Chargers combined for a five-person team score of 290 to beat out the Braves’ mark of 314 in the nine-hole match.

“The golfers were not excited about opening our season at La Purisima, but I knew they could handle it,” Dos Pueblos head coach Dan Choi said. “As expected, they really rose to the occasion and played a very focused and mentally tough round.

“I could not be happier with the very strong performance the team put in today on a very hard course.”

Celeste Alcaraz opened her sophomore year with a bang, shooting a 51 to earn the match’s medalist honors.

She was followed by teammates Bella Sebastian (55), Dani Hickman (57), Angelia Pagliaro (61) and Sophia Morales (66).
