The United Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Barbara County (UBGC) has announced the opening of this year’s Gold Card Ceremony season, starting with an event last week at Buellton City Hall.
Throughout December, additional ceremonies will take place across the county, celebrating the commitment and achievements of club members.
The ceremonies are part of UBGC’s Club 105 recognition program, which celebrates consistent attendance, and highlights the impact the club experience has on youth development.
Research indicates that children who attend a Boys & Girls Club for 105 days in a calendar year are twice as likely to graduate on time and lead healthier lives.
The program awards Silver Cards at 52 days and Gold Cards at 105 days, each granting special privileges at the club. Members who reach 200 days receive Blue Cards, along with a complimentary membership for the next year and the ability to gift a membership to a friend.
The Gold Card Ceremony acknowledges members’ dedication to participating in club programs and building a foundation for a brighter future.
“The Gold Card isn’t just an award; it’s a testament to the dedication of our young members and the incredible impact that consistent engagement can have on their futures,” said Michael Baker, UBGC CEO. “By being a part of our programs for 105 days or more, these young people are positioning themselves for long-term success, and we couldn’t be prouder of their accomplishments.”
UBGC’s programs are designed to empower youth academically; develop essential life skills; and encourage them to become caring, responsible citizens.
The Buellton Club’s first ceremony set a celebratory tone for what is sure to be an inspiring season, uniting families, community leaders, and supporters to honor these remarkable young individuals.
