A heat advisory will be in effect from 10 a.m. Monday to 8 p.m. Tuesday for parts of Santa Barbara County.
High temperatures will be between 94 and 96 degrees, according to the National Weather Service office in Oxnard.
Affected areas will include Santa Maria, Lompoc, Vandenberg Space Force Base and the Santa Ynez Valley along with nearby beaches. Coastal areas of San Luis Obispo County also will fall under the new advisory.
A high risk for heat illness will exist among sensitive populations including the very young, the very old, those without air conditioning, and those active outdoors, according to the forecast.
The warmer-than-normal conditions will peak on Tuesday.
In comparison, Santa Barbara and Goleta temperatures will hit the mid-80s on Monday and Tuesday.
The marine layer and fog for near-coastal areas from the Santa Barbara South Coast and south will help keep those areas cooler. The forecast also includes a chance of patchy dense fog during the night to morning hours.
By Wednesday, temperatures will be cooler but still remain slightly above normal.
The remainder of March apparently will be dry, but a chance of rain will return to the forecast for early April.
The advisories follow a series of record high temperatures felt in Santa Barbara County including four consecutive unusually hot days in Santa Maria.
