Hector Morales, 57, passed away peacefully on Dec. 29, 2025, in Santa Barbara, surrounded by his family.
Born in Santa Barbara in 1968 to Juan and Juanita Morales, Hector was raised with his five sisters and remained deeply connected to his hometown.
He loved Santa Barbara, especially the beach, and often said he could never leave because it was one of the most beautiful places.
Hector was preceded in death by his sister Lily Cuellar, and his father Juan Morales. He is survived by his mother Juanita Morales; sisters Ana and Mike Rodriguez, Yolanda and Joe Cate, Veronica and Gerardo Gil, and Erica Morales; and daughters Olivia and Tatumn Morales.
Hector was adventurous, endlessly humorous, and known for his playful spirit. He could often be found skateboarding or riding his Onewheel through Santa Barbara with his best friend Lars, greeting familiar faces along the way.
He approached life with curiosity and authenticity, unafraid to express himself and always eager to enjoy the moment.
Above all else, Hector was a devoted and deeply proud father to Olivia and Tatumn. He showed up for them in every way — attending every soccer game, every school award ceremony, and most recently, both of their graduations.
He carefully kept records of their accomplishments, not out of obligation, but out of genuine pride and love. His unwavering support shaped their lives and will continue to guide them.
Hector was a hardworking man who remained dedicated to his career in construction, working until the week before his passing. He took pride in his work and believed in showing up fully — for his job, his family, and the people who depended on him.
Creativity defined much of Hector’s life. In his free time, he found joy in sewing, fashion, skateboarding and music. He had a natural eye for style and a creative instinct that made everything he touched feel personal and expressive.
Whether through what he wore, what he made, or how he moved through the world, Hector lived true to himself.
In addition to being a loving father, Hector was a proud and attentive uncle. He adored his nieces and nephews, and rarely missed an opportunity to support them at sporting events, concerts and milestones, cheering them on with the same enthusiasm he brought to every part of his life.
Hector loved deeply and without hesitation. He cared fiercely for the people in his life, offering loyalty, laughter and presence that never went unnoticed.
His absence leaves an immeasurable space, but his adventurous, creative and loving spirit will live on in those who knew him.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date, pending weather conditions. Details will be shared when available.
He will be profoundly missed and forever remembered.
