Community members are invited to Goleta’s first Coffee & Community/Café y Comunidad of the new year, 9-11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 31 at Goleta Valley Library (GVL) Express, 6500 Hollister Ave., Ste. 105.

Attendees can chat with Mayor Paula Perotte, Second District Councilmember James Kyriaco, and Jarrett Morris, the city’s new chief of police services while enjoying coffee and donuts from SloDoCo.

“I am looking forward to a morning filled with connection, treats and good conversation,” Kyriaco said. “This is a great opportunity for community members to see our new temporary library space and to receive answers to questions about issues facing our city.”

“I am looking forward to seeing new and familiar faces at our first Coffee & Community event of the year,” Perotte said. “This is a great opportunity to get to know each other better, meet your neighbors, and hear about topics of importance to your neighborhood. Please make sure to bring your questions.”

The free, family-friendly event will include Spanish interpretation. There will be an activity available for the kids and small group tours offered to learn more about the inner-workings of the library.

GVL Express typically opens at 10 a.m. Saturdays, but will open at 9 a.m. for Coffee & Community on Jan. 31. Opening remarks begin around 9:30 a.m.

Because parking is limited, attendees are asked to park in the designated “Library” spots. Parking is also available on Los Carneros Way, or next door at Goleta City Hall. Much of the event will take place outside in the parking lot.
