As we arise, our natural tendency tells us to go through our daily routines to prepare for the day at hand.

Some will add to their routine a brisk daily walk or perhaps an invigorating jog or bicycle ride to get the endorphins ignited for the challenges that may well lay ahead.

In my earlier years jogging was part of my personal regimen.

Many in this world add a spiritual flare to their morning routine. For the past 40-plus years I’ve honed my spiritual exercise routine.

Just as Enoch walked with God, I strive to start my day talking and listening to God.

The Apostle Paul instructs all believers in Ephesians 6:10-11, “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.”

Yes, there is a spiritual battle for the souls of God’s children — His greatest creation made in His image.

That battle takes place in a different dimension and we are the subjects Satan wants to sift and distract from our relationship with our Heavenly Father.

There’s a wonderful series of Christian fiction available by author Frank Perretti. Along with two later novels, This Present Darkness beautifully presents spiritual warfare perhaps better than anyone else ever has.

Of course, God’s Word speaks to this unseen battle being fought by God’s Army against the fallen angels of Satan.

In Ephesians 6:12 the Apostle Paul amply warns, “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”

We may not be able to see the heavenly battle, but we can certainly see those who the Adversary is using in our midst to create confusion and division.

This present darkness is nothing in comparison to what will follow as described in the Apostle John’s final words in the Book of Revelation.

We need to prepare daily for what we may encounter in this world, but we must also diligently prepare for the Day of the Lord, which will certainly come — perhaps in our lifetime!

The preparation required for that Day must take place in your heart and mind beforehand. You must come to grips with the Reality that we need not only believe that Jesus is the only Son of God, but we must wholeheartedly accept Him as our Savior and Lord.

Here are the words of Jesus himself found in John 14:6:

“I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on you have known him and seen him.”
