In spite of the sweltering heat, throngs of people were out and about on Montecito’s Coast Village Road and Summerland’s Lillie Avenue over the Labor Day weekend.
On Saturday, many of them gathered at Porch, at 2346 Lillie Ave. in Summerland, for an open house at the former Just Folk Art Gallery. The popular home furnishings store relocated from Santa Claus Lane earlier this summer.
With a courtesy coffee cart by Dart Coffee Co. and a tarot card reader on hand, the masked guests enthusiastically browsed through the new store.
Owner Diana Dolan has filled her two-story shop with everything for the home, such as photography by Michael Haber, paintings, kitchen ceramics, textiles, bedding, jewelry, paper goods, candles, coffee table books, succulents and furniture perfectly sourced for either a Santa Barbara casual or sophisticated casa.
The multiple vignettes on both floors helped me zero in on groupings of goods rather than long open aisles. After the year’s arduous hiatus, it was great to see the beautiful merchandise as well as a number of familiar faces — at least from the eyes up.
Business has been booming in Summerland, and Porch joins Sweet Wheel Produce, Field+Fort, Sacred Space, Big Daddy’s The Well, Botanik, Summerland Oriental Rugs and Garde in transforming the once beachy street into a mecca for your home.
