Deputies with the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Los Angeles man on Wednesday in connection with a January burglary at a Carpinteria Valley cannabis farm, when hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of marijuana was reportedly stolen.

Deputies responded to a report of a burglary at a Carpinteria Valley cannabis farm on the 4000 block of Foothill Road on Jan. 17 at 1:47 a.m.

The suspects fled the scene before deputies arrived.

Detectives later identified one suspect at Dvaryae Bryant, 22, who was already under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department.

He was arrested and booked at Van Nuys Jail on Wednesday, according to Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Raquel Zick.

Bryant was arrested at his home on the 2300 block of South Victoria Avenue in Los Angeles, during which he allegedly threw a short-barreled assault rifle from a window, Zick said.

During a separate search of a home on the 12000 block of Cranbrook Avenue in Hawthorne, deputies found thousands of dollars in cash, more firearms and 15 pounds of processed cannabis.

Bryant will be extradited to Santa Barbara County on a no-bail felony warrant for burglary, conspiracy, grand theft and a gang enhancement, Zick said.

A farm at the same location on the 4000 block of Foothill Road was also the target of a burglary on Feb. 4, Zick confirmed. She said she did not have the name of the farm.

There are 25 permitted cannabis operations in the Carpinteria Valley, located across 134 acres. Five are based on the 4000 block of Foothill Road.

Deputies are investigating links between the two burglaries and other similar ones in the county.

During the Feb. 4 burglary, the suspects fled in at least three different vehicles, investigators said.

Three people were arrested after their vehicle, a blue BMW SUV, crashed and flipped over near Foothill and Santa Monica roads. A second vehicle, a black-and-white Infiniti, was found crashed and abandoned near Foothill Road and Cravens Lane.

Two suspects, both 17, were booked at Santa Maria Juvenile Hall on suspicion of burglary, conspiracy, obstruction and possession of an unregistered firearm.

The third suspect was identified as 21-year-old Abraham Bustos of Lynwood.

He has been charged with second-degree burglary, grand theft and conspiracy, as well as two enhancements for firearm involvement and previous felony conviction, according to Santa Barbara County Superior Court records.

His arraignment is scheduled for April 6.
