The Laguna Blanca boys’ soccer team opened the season Tuesday with a 5-2 win over Ojai Valley.
The Owls charged out to a 2-0 halftime lead thanks to two own-goals by The Toads, both on crosses from Laguna Blanca junior Brody McGonigle.
In the second half, Ojai made a run and scored two goals to ties the game.
Laguna Blanca responded by scoring a header from a corner and two breakaways, one from senior Frankie Baron and the other one from freshman Beckett Smythe.
Center back junior Gabriel Lea led the defense, and senior Aden Meisel and junior Andreas McClintock controlled the midfield.
“It was a great way to start the season,” Owls coach Rick Rodriguez said.

Carpinteria senior Kainoa Glasgow scored 26 points, but the Warriors fell to Thacher in the boys basketball season-opener Tuesday, 71-46.
