Moving is stressful, and even more so if you end up with a real estate agent who doesn’t understand your individual situation. After all, buying a home as a single person, a couple, a family with kids, or empty-nesters means dealing with a different set of requirements.

“In real estate, every client is unique, along with their specific needs,” local real estate agent Nancy Newquist-Nolan said. “We partner closely to discover how we can support our clients in achieving their objectives in a stress-free manner.”

Newquist-Nolan and Rachel Quittner are partners of Your SB Team/KW Realty in Santa Barbara, where they work to handle transactions for all types of people, including first-time home buyers, expanding families, people relocating for work, and those who are ready to downsize. No matter the scenario, Your SB Team aims for an individualized approach.

“Some clients have relatives in the area to lend a hand while others do not,” Quittner said. “Those clients often need more direct assistance. We’ve had numerous clients seek our full support. Is the house in good shape, or does it need some TLC? There are countless factors in every scenario, so we assess each client’s situation and tailor our approach accordingly.”

Professional real estate agents help sellers by researching comparable houses in the area to make price recommendations and using marketing techniques that will appeal to buyers.

They also help resolve issues that come up during home inspections or appraisals and help get the seller to the finish line: closing.

Real estate agents for buyers, on the other hand, help their clients find the right home, make sure they’re paying a fair price, help line up moving dates and closing dates, and deal with the invariable issues that pop up during the process.

Your SB Team has the experience and expertise to help both sellers and buyers.

“The transfer of real estate is a complex transaction that requires a great deal of documentation and verification to ensure a legally sound transaction,” Newquist-Nolan said.

“Even though plenty of people dabble in real estate, it’s a difficult job that requires knowledge of real estate law, strong negotiation skills, work ethic, communication skills, local knowledge, and a deep network of supportive business throughout Santa Barbara.”

Newquist-Nolan and Quittner also care deeply about their community, as they work with dogs and cats in shelters and donate to the National Disaster Search Dog Foundation and the Grace Fisher Foundation.

Quittner also volunteers as a dance teacher at Grace Fisher’s All Inclusive Arts Clubhouse and helps Grace behind the scenes with her yearly Winter Showcase at the Granada.

Real estate agents for older adults

Real estate agents can train to work with specific groups of people, including older adults. Both Newquist- Nolan and Quittner are Certified Senior Real Estate Specialists and are knowledgeable about the best ways to help their clients.

“In dealing with seniors, an agent must have ample time, patience, and an understanding of what may lie ahead,” Quittner said.

Your SB Team also hosts monthly senior seminars at the Grace Fisher Clubhouse in La Cumbre Plaza and at Cody’s Cafe.

Upcoming topics include estate planning with a trust attorney; recognizing the signs of elder abuse and avoiding senior scams; and understanding the differences between home care, home health, and hospice care with a local health care company.
