ASAP Cats is partnering with Santa Barbara County Animal Services (SBCAS) and C.A.R.E.4PAWS to host a joint spay/neuter event — called Beat the Heat — Sept. 29 at the ASAP Cats shelter, 5473 Overpass Road, Goleta.

With increasing numbers of stray intakes and an overpopulation of cats in Santa Barbara neighborhoods, providing affordable options for cat care is paramount to the local shelters’ missions.

For a flat rate of $35, the clinic includes spay/neuter, microchipping, rabies treatment, FVRCP, flea treatment, and deworming. It aims to serve all local cats who need assistance and to prevent more kittens from growing up in shelters, with the goal of helping the Santa Barbara community and all its cats.

The event has limited spaces that are only available by appointment. To reserve a spot, contact ASAP Cats, 805-705-6575. Call SBCAS, 805-934-6969, for more information.

C.A.R.E.4Paws works to reduce pet overpopulation, keep animals out of shelters and improve quality of life for pet families in need. Since 2009, it has provided pet wellness services to community members in underserved areas to ensure animals don’t suffer or end up in a shelter due to lack of resources and access to proper pet care.
