Santa Barbara 10-year-old skater Taylor Brownett captured his second National Amateur Skateboarding Championship earlier this year at Kona Skatepark in Jacksonville, Florida.

Brownett capped off his stellar season in January with a national title in the Park category at Kona Skatepark, which is the oldest continuously operational skatepark in the world. It was built in the 1970s.

The national championship performance came following a 2025 season in which he won the California State Championships in both the Park and Vert categories.

In 2024, Brownett earned his first national championship in the Vert category at YMCA Claremont in San Diego on a 14-foot vert ramp.

Brownett, who began skateboarding in competitions at the age of 7, competes in the Southern California Amateur Skate League, which is considered the premier amateur league in the world.

Competitors in this league accumulate points that contribute to a global ranking system of professional and amateur skaters. Brownett is currently ranked No. 40 in the world in the Park category, one of two events in the Olympics.
