State Sen. Monique Limón has presented Los Amigos de Guadalupe with the Senate District-19 2023 Nonprofit of the Year award.
Based in the city of Guadalupe, Los Amigos de Guadalupe (LADG) has a mission to transform Guadalupe into a resilient, livable, sustainable community.
“As the chair of the Senate Select Committee on the Nonprofit Sector, it is my honor to celebrate Los Amigos de Guadalupe as our 20223 Nonprofit of the Year,” said Limón.
“Last year, we worked together to advance the renovation and expansion of the historical Royal Theatre, which will soon be a vibrant community gathering place,” she said. “Los Amigos de Guadalupe’s mission is critical to the development of a thriving city for all to enjoy.”
“I am so honored and privileged to bring this award back to my hometown in Guadalupe, California, and continue the work to build a resilient hometown that I have pictured in my head since I was a little girl,” said Tiffany Gonzales, LADG executive director.
“This award is a real testament to our mission and could not have been accomplished without our team at LADG and the ongoing support from the Ccity of Guadalupe and the community,” she said.
“As the newly appointed executive director, I’m thrilled to represent my hometown in this capacity and bring this award home,” Gonzales said.
LADG was formerly known as Rural Community Development Corporation of California (RCDCC). Beginning in 2017, RCDCC’s goal was to help rural communities, especially those considered disadvantaged and beleaguered, fill the gap in capacity.
In 2020, a new board moved to change RCDCC from a statewide nonprofit to the local Guadalupe nonprofit. In August 2020, the RCDCC Board voted to change the nonprofit’s name, territory, and mission to reflect its new direction.
LADG aims to enhance and develop the capacity of the city of Guadalupe, community organizations, local businesses, and community members through community development plans and actions that support the city, its residents, and surrounding areas, to create a more self-reliant and stronger community that gains, not loses, population.
