Multiple traffic collisions caused heavy traffic through Santa Barbara’s South Coast on Tuesday morning.

An overturned white van blocked one of two lanes on northbound Highway 101 in the Montecito area shortly before 8 a.m.

The van had hit the K-rail and barrels in the construction zone, according to the California Highway Patrol.

One person was transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital with minor injuries.

One lane was initially closed. Both lanes reopened around 9 a.m., per CHP.

Only two lanes on the highway are open at that spot due to ongoing construction for the Highway 101 widening project.

Heavy traffic was also reported on State Route 192 — also known as Foothill Road — in the Carpinteria Valley.

Emergency personnel responded to that area for a two-vehicle collision at around 9:21 a.m. No injuries were reported.

As of 10 a.m., traffic was still backed up through the Carpinteria Valley and Summerland areas.
