The Los Alamos Library is expanding its weekday hours and dropping Saturday service starting in January.
Beginning Friday, Jan. 9, the library will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, and closed on Saturdays.
The change was announced by the City of Santa Maria, which operates the branch at 405 Helena St. in Los Alamos. The branch library will remain closed on Sundays.
A new weekly story time for children ages 3 to 5 will also begin Jan. 9, with sessions held Fridays at 10:30 a.m. at the Los Alamos branch.
The Santa Maria Public Library’s main branch at 421 South McClelland St. in Santa Maria is open Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The Orcutt Branch at 175 South Broadway Suite 101 in Orcutt is open Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Guadalupe Branch at 4719 West. Main St. is open Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Holiday hours will be in effect at all library branches this month. On Wednesday, Christmas Eve, and Dec. 31, New Year’s Eve, locations will close early at 5 p.m. All public libraries will be closed on Thursday, Christmas Day and Jan. 1, New Year’s Day.
