Soprano Anastasia Malliaras and mezzo-soprano Xeni Tziouvaras will be performing in this year’s Greek Christmas concert, 3 p.m. Dec. 13 at Saint Barbara Greek Orthodox Church (OSB), 1205 San Antonio Creek Road.

In February Malliaras will debut as Cleopatra in OSB’s production of “Caesar and Cleopatra.” Santa Barbara-born Tziouvaras has recently returning from Florence, Italy.

Presented by the Santa Barbara chapter of American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association (AHEPA), the annual celebration features traditional Greek carols, chants, rarely performed Byzantine hymns, and warm holiday stories, offering a glimpse into Greek Christmas traditions.

The program is directed by Kostis Protopapas, OSB artistic and general director, who brings his musical expertise and cultural heritage to this event for the fourth year.

A reception with traditional Greek pastries, donated by the Daughters of Penelope, will follow, with proceeds supporting AHEPA’s scholarships and cultural programs.
