The Santa Barbara Police Department is asking members of the public to come forward with information about a pedestrian injury that occurred Monday afternoon near MacKenzie Park in Santa Barbara.
The pedestrian was found on the side of the roadway in the area of Las Positas Road and McCaw Avenue, across from the entrance to the park, around 4:30 p.m., according to the SBPD.
The person was transported to the hospital. Police are still investigating the cause of the injuries.
“Because Las Positas is a heavily traveled road, SBPD believes that a passing driver may have witnessed what had occurred,” police said on Wednesday.
Anyone who was driving near that area between 4 p.m. and 4:45 p.m. and witnessed the incident is asked to call Investigator C. Powell at 805.897.3719.
A GoFundMe account was posted this week stating a Santa Barbara woman had been struck and injured by an alleged hit-and-run driver near Brass Bear Brewing Company — located on McCaw Avenue in Santa Barbara — around 4:30 a.m. on Monday.
That is the same day and general location, although not the same time, as the injured pedestrian incident being investigated by police.
The fundraiser account was deactivated by the organizer on Wednesday, a GoFundMe representative confirmed to Noozhawk.
The GoFundMe organizer did not immediately respond to a request for additional information from Noozhawk.
Police Department representatives did not immediately respond to a request for additional information about the incident.
