Santa Barbara High right-hander Zach Anthony fired a no-hitter to power the Dons to a 20-0 mercy-rule win over Hueneme on Wednesday.
Anthony struck out four batters and walked two batters on his way to the five-inning no-no.
Meanwhile, the Santa Barbara High offense exploded for 17 runs in the third inning alone to run away with the game.
James King, Jetner Welch and Milo Winckler each tallied two hits, while Welch drove in a trio of runs.
The Dons took advantage of 15 walks, with Max Wesley and Tanner Wilson drawing three walks apiece.
Santa Barbara High (1-2) will host Arroyo Grande on Friday at 3 p.m. for another non-league contest.
San Marcos 7, Simi Valley 2
The Royals picked up their first win of the season on the road against Simi Valley on Wednesday.
David Burkholder tossed four strong innings for San Marcos, while Miles Herbert closed out the final three, including an immaculate inning in the fifth.
Landon Johnson and Mason Crang each blasted homers, while Levi Monson drove in multiple runs. Grant Hoover and Herbert each tallied multi-hit performances as well.
Carpinteria High 16, Coastal Christian 1
The Warriors cruised to a lopsided win over Coastal Christian in their home opener on Wednesday at John Calderwood Field in Carpinteria.
Dallas Bartholic was in the center of a consistent offensive attack, going 5-for-5 with a three-run homer and five RBI. Meanwhile, Jonah Hernandez tallied four hits, and both Micah Smith and Gabe Martinez had three hits.
Hernandez also got the starting nod for Carpinteria, striking out eight in three scoreless innings of work. Bartholic then faced the minimum over the next two innings before Charlotte Cooney handled the final two frames.
Martinez, Smith and Sam Medel anchored a strong Warrior defensive effort in the win.
“The early season performances have been good,” Carpinteria High head coach Pat Cooney said. “We are far from firing on all cylinders but the team has shown poise and humility through two games.
“There is a nice balance of hungry young players like 10th grader Jonah Hernandez and experienced seniors like Dallas Bartholic. We are looking forward to the grind.”
The Warriors (2-0) will continue non-league play at home against Santa Maria next Wednesday.
