Providence girls basketball captured the Condor League championship with a 52-15 rout of Besant Hill on Tuesday night.
The Patriots went 6-0 against league opponents en route to their first league title since rebooting the program last season.
Providence sophomore Chloe Watz dominated in the paint with 16 points and a whopping 28 rebounds, while Rinna Griggs dropped 23 points and Grace Aguiniga added seven points and 10 steals.
“All the girls played really hard. It’s great to cap off the regular season with the girls best effort to date,” Providence head coach Chris Van Wyk said.
The Patriots will await their CIF-SS playoff pairing this Saturday.
Dos Pueblos 63, Buena 27
The Chargers ended the regular season with a road win over the Bulldogs on Tuesday in Ventura.
Dos Pueblos is playoff-bound after going 17-11 this season and 11-3 against league foes for a second-place finish in the Channel League.
The Chargers raced out to a 14-4 lead in the first and never looked back en route to the win.
Carly Letendre (13 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists) and Kindah Ahmad-Reda (12 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists) each filled up the stat sheet for Dos Pueblos.
Pacifica 56, San Marcos 51
The Royals narrowly fell to the Tritons in their regular-season finale on Tuesday night in Oxnard.
“We allowed Pacifica to get hot,” San Marcos head coach Devin Uyesaka said. “Our communication was not good tonight, which allowed Pacifica to get a lot of open looks. Pacifica did a good job of knocking down shots.
“We tried making a run, but we couldn’t get the stops we needed.”
Jada Ahmad poured in 26 points for the playoff-bound Royals, while Izzy Schow chipped in 13 points.
Rio Mesa 55, Santa Barbara High 16
The youthful Dons rounded out their season with a road loss to the Spartans on Tuesday.
As she did throughout the season, Shea Gannon paced the Santa Barbara High effort with 14 points and 12 rebounds.
“Shea continues to progress and has the potential to be an outstanding high school basketball player. I’m very impressed with her effort and improvement,” Santa Barbara High head coach Andrew Butcher said.
“We have been doing much better taking care of the ball, but tonight we regressed. Rio Mesa took advantage and scored many of their baskets off of steals. The good news is that we return most of the squad, including some who missed most of the season with injuries. I think the future is bright.”
Bishop Diego 64, Del Sol 25
The Cardinals will cruise into the playoffs with some momentum after a rout of Del Sol on Tuesday.
Bishop Diego (22-4, 6-2 Tri-Valley League) dominated both ends of the court from start to finish, including taking a 33-14 advantage by the halftime break.
The sister duo of Jaymi and Jeisa Coronado led the way for the Cardinals with 18 and 10 points, respectively. Meanwhile, Luz Castro and Eden Wynne each scored nine points.
“I liked how Alyssa Chrestenson and Eden did rebounding tonight,” Bishop Diego head coach Jeff Burich said. “Abby Walters played very aggressive defense off the bench. We did a nice job of moving the ball against their zone.”
Santa Paula 71, Carpinteria High 49
The Warriors dropped their penultimate game of the regular season to Santa Paula on Tuesday night.
Carpinteria (14-9, 6-4 Citrus Coast) will end its regular season with Senior Night against Villanova Prep on Tuesday.
The Warriors trailed by just five points after one quarter of play, but Santa Paula dominated the second to take a 46-28 lead into halftime.
Carpinteria chipped away at the deficit in the second half and trimmed it down to nine points early in the fourth, but Santa Paula caught fire down the stretch and pulled away.
The trio of Charlotte Cooney, Amalia Castaneda and Jamaica Cook ended the night with 16, 13 and 11 points, respectively.
Boys Basketball
The Dunn boys basketball pulled away in the second half for a 76-37 win over Laguna Blanca on Tuesday.
Dunn led 14-12 after the first and 17-11 at halftime, but a 24-4 third quarter allowed it to expand its lead and earn the victory.
Dunn’s Walker Vazquez fell just short of a quadruple-double with seven points, 13 assists, 10 rebounds and 10 steals. Meanwhile, Dylan Shomes scored 28 points and Jayden Alabi recorded 16 points and 14 rebounds.
The Earwigs honored the senior class of Tucker McMorrow, Rylan Tse-Fong and Alabi in a pregame ceremony.
Laguna Blanca’s offensive attack was led by 13 points from Holden Pak.
