San Marcos boys basketball resumed Channel League action with a 64-40 victory over Ventura on Monday night inside the Thunderhut.
The Royals were led on both ends of the floor by their trio of Aidan Conlan, Koji Hefner and Brody Green. Conlan led the way with 17 points, while Hefner followed with 16 points and Green chipped in 13.
“I’m proud of the way we defended tonight. Ventura runs some really good, complicated actions, and for the most part, I thought we did a good job defending them,” San Marcos head coach Matt Jordan said.
“The big three of Koji, Brody, and Aidan continue to carry the load offensively. They set the tone for us, and when they all play well like they did tonight, we are tough to beat.”
The Royals (12-5, 3-1 Channel League) will head out to Goleta to take on crosstown rival Dos Pueblos on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

The Cardinals led 19-11 after the first quarter, but Valley Christian stayed in the game throughout the second and third.
Bishop Diego finally put the nail in the coffin in the fourth as Jeisa Coronado hit a pair of three-pointers to pull away for the win.
Coronado paced the Cardinals in scoring with 20 points, while Luz Castro ended with 11 points.
“Jaymi Coronado had a great all-around game for us. We needed her consistency tonight,” Bishop Diego head coach Jeff Burich said. “Kasey Seashore brought energy off the bench with several rebounds that either gave us stops or gave us second chances on offense. Luz and Jaymi set the tone defensively for us.”
The Cardinals (14-2, 1-0 Tri-Valley League) will be on the road against Foothill Tech on Thursday.
Santa Ynez 65, Carpinteria High 43
The Pirates went on the road and came away with a non-league win over the Warriors on Monday in Carpinteria.
After a back-and-forth first quarter that ended with Carpinteria up 11-10, Santa Ynez took over in the second and raced its way to a 38-21 halftime advantage.
From there, the Pirates fended off the Warrior comeback efforts en route to the win.
“I have to do a better job of preparing our team with the proper techniques of rebounding and running the floor in transition,” Carpinteria High head coach Henry Gonzales said. “We will continue to work on it and will get better. I was happy with our effort and willingness to play hard all four periods.”
