Alessandra Castelli, a Righetti High School junior, has been selected as Girls State California delegate for the American Legion Auxiliary California Girls State Program 2026.

She will participate in a leadership initiative designed to enhance civic knowledge and leadership skills of young women with a focus on responsible citizenship.

The program will take place June 22-27 at the University of California Riverside.

Castelli is being sponsored by American Legion Auxiliary Orcutt Post 534.

“I am incredibly honored and excited to have been picked to go to Girls State, I’ve heard great things and am looking forward to this learning opportunity,” Castelli said.

Charlotte Peterson is the state alternate from Righetti High.

“I am beyond excited to have the opportunity to be selected as the alternate delegate for Girls’ State 2026 and am thrilled to be recognized by such a well-regarded program,” Peterson said.

“This opportunity allows students to strengthen their leadership skills while networking with other high-achieving peers from across the state of California,’’ said Eric Blanco, Warrior School counselor.
