San Marcos golf’s Andy Keenan and San Marcos softball’s Lucy Dessert were standout Royals last week en route to their Santa Barbara Athletic Round Table Athlete of the Week honors.
The pairing was honored at Monday’s SBART Press Luncheon at Harry’s Plaza Cafe.
Keenan shined on the course, earning back-to-back medalist honors while leading San Marcos to a league victory over Buena and a non-league win over Valencia.
He shot four-under-par in each of the matchups to pace all golfers, shooting a 66 against Buena and following it up with a 67 against Valencia.
Meanwhile, Dessert dominated in the circle to power the Royals to a Channel League sweep of Ventura High with 1-0 and 6-4 victories.
She tossed a pair of complete games, allowing three earned runs in 14 innings of work. Along the way, Dessert allowed 11 hits and struck out 13 without walking a single batter.
The boys honorable mentions were Matteo Burdick (SM Volleyball), Hayes Costner (SB Volleyball), Luke Walters (Bishop Volleyball), Rafael Cintura (Carp Volleyball), Flynn Chenoweth (SB Lacrosse), Vonn Forrest (SB Lacrosse) and Jake Ehlers (Carp Swim).
The girls honorable mentions were Brooklyn Hedricks (DP Softball), Linnea Clapinski (DP Lacrosse), Stella Lawler (DP Lacrosse), Josephine Grossman (SM Lacrosse), Victoria Aldana (SM Lacrosse), Elina Stump (SB Track) and Avery Leck (SM Track).
