San Marcos girls beach volleyball picked up a 4-1 non-league win over Santa Ynez High on Friday in Santa Ynez.
After the lone loss came at the No. 1 matchup, the San Marcos No. 2 duo of Reese Paskin and Alina Stapf earned a 21-10, 21-19 victory over the Pirates.
“[Paskin and Stapf’s] communication and steady play were keys for them,” San Marcos head coach Tim Loomer said.
Paige Hoadley and Jeannie Johnson made quick work of their opponents with a 21-11, 21-7 win on court three.
“The two clicked from the outset and were next to unstoppable on the sand,” Loomer said of his No. 3 pairing.
At court four, Jordan Schmoller and Isla McClintock battled to a three-set victory, 21-14, 21-23, 15-10.
“McClintock’s solid defense and some hard swings by Schmoller propelled the duo to the victory,” Loomer said.
The No. 5 pairing of Kelsey Helton and Kelsey Rowe rounded out the San Marcos winners with a 21-10, 21-17 win.
“Kelsey squared played a very consistent match, displaying good ball control and some solid offense,” Loomer said.
The Royals (2-0) will continue non-league action against Arroyo Grande on Saturday.
