San Marcos girls flag football kicked off the 2025 season with a 39-0 victory over Santa Maria High on Tuesday in Santa Maria.

The Royals’ defense led the dominant performance, snagging six interceptions as a team, which led to five different players scoring on the offensive end.

Rio Chesluk hauled in three interceptions of her own, while Victoria Aldana recorded a pick-six. Peyton Sperling and Mia Richmond each had interceptions as well.

Offensively, Chesluk, Sperling, Aldana, Andrea Obispo and Maya Lewellen all found their way into the endzone en route to the win.

San Marcos (1-0) will take on Westlake in its home opener on Thursday at 6 p.m.
