A third straight Channel League title from Santa Barbara High and a standout senior season from San Marcos’ Koji Hefner highlighted this year’s local All-Channel League boys basketball honorees.

The Dons, Royals and Dos Pueblos Chargers all had strong student-athletes power them to solid seasons in the always-competitive Channel League.

Santa Barbara High (19-9, 13-1 CL)

The Dons went 13-1 against Channel League foes this season to secure their third consecutive league championship. As a result, Santa Barbara High head coach Greg Zuffelato was named the Channel League Coach of the Year.

The Santa Barbara High trio of junior Levi Oakes, junior Owen Horn and sophomore Blake Lee shouldered the majority of the load on their way to All-Channel League First Team selections.

Junior Cayleb Miller and sophomore Brent Sharpton also gave the Dons plenty to look forward to next season with All-League Second Team campaigns.

Meanwhile, junior Kash Ridgell and freshman Mika Narva provided sparks off the bench for Santa Barbara High and were named All-League Honorable Mentions.

San Marcos (22-7, 12-2 CL)

The Royals placed second in the Channel League and handed the Dons their lone league loss, and Hefner was a large reason for that success. The senior averaged 18.7 points, 12.3 rebounds, 5.4 assists, 3.5 blocks and 3.1 steals per game on his way to Channel League MVP honors.

Fellow senior Brody Green was just as crucial to the team’s success, rounding out his San Marcos career with All-League First Team honors.

The junior duo of Aidan Conlan and Sergio Landeros were key members of the starting five for the Royals and played their way onto the All-League Second Team.

Senior Lincoln Gengo and junior Benicio Huerta rounded out the San Marcos honorees with All-League Honorable Mention nods.

Dos Pueblos (13-15, 4-10 CL)

Senior Evan Pinsker commanded the Charger offensive attack all season, and he was the team’s lone representative on the All-Channel League First Team.

Coulter Jay also turned in a strong senior season for Dos Pueblos, holding down the painted area and finding success from beyond the arc in an All-League Second Team season.

Senior Wyatt Gardiner and junior Jordan Caratachea secured the final local honors with All-Channel League Honorable Mention selections.
