San Marcos track & field’s Logan Patterson Deakyne and Dos Pueblos softball’s Anastasia Brunner shined last week en route to their Santa Barbara Athletic Round Table Athlete of the Week honors.


The pairing was honored at Monday’s SBART Press Luncheon at Harry’s Plaza Cafe.
Patterson Deakyne turned in standout performances in several events at the Spartan Relays, taking first place in the 400-meter race at 50.53 seconds and coming in fourth in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.82 seconds.
He rounded out his day with a first-place showing in the 300-meter hurdles, crossing the finish line in 39.45 seconds for the second-fastest 300-meter hurdle time in program history.
Meanwhile, Brunner had a stellar week at the plate for the Chargers, totaling three hits in each of the team’s three games to help lead them to a sweep of Buena and a non-league win over Santa Clara.
She ended the week at 9-for-13 with a home run, a triple, a double, five RBI and seven runs scored.
The boys honorable mentions were Mason Crang (SM Baseball), Jameson Barth (DP Baseball), Matteo Burdick (SM Volleyball), Hayes Costner (SB Volleyball), John Michael Flint (Bishop Volleyball) and Nolan Clark (SM Swim).
The girls honorable mentions were Kacey Hurley (DP Softball), Emily Morici (DP Softball), Cecilia Lemus (Carp Softball), Moelleken Lezama (SB Lacrosse), Izzy Scott (Carp Swim) and Lucy Moore (Carp Swim).
The Athlete of the Week award winners are selected by the local sports media. Coaches are encouraged to nominate deserving athletes. Nominations should be sent to sports@noozhawk.com by Saturday afternoon, if possible.
