San Marcos and Santa Barbara High girls beach volleyball competed against strong competition in the 805/OC Duels this weekend in Santa Barbara.
San Marcos
The Royals swept their three matches with a 3-2 win over San Clemente, a 4-1 victory over Aliso Niguel and a 5-0 sweep of Dana Hills.
“It was a good day of volleyball for the Royals, who enjoyed hosting teams from Orange County,” San Marcos head coach Tim Loomer said.
In the matchup with San Clemente, San Marcos got wins at line one from Cora Loomer and Evyn Miller, court two from Reese Paskin and Alina Stapf and the fours from Kelsey Rowe and Lila Westmacott.
Loomer and Stapf then paired up to earn a victory over Aliso Niguel at court one, while Paige Hoadley and Rowe came together to win at court three. Westmacott paired up with Isla McClintock for a win at the fours, and Kelsey Helton and Rio Chesluk emerged victorious at court five.
Dana Hills forfeited lines four and five, giving San Marcos a trio of winners in the sweep. Loomer/Miller won the No. 1 matchup, Paskin/Stapf battled to a victory as the twos and Hoadley/Jeannie Johnson earned a win on court three.
The Royals (8-0, 2-0 Channel League) will host Buena on Thursday.
Santa Barbara High
The Dons picked up one win out of their three matches this weekend, sweeping Dana Hills and falling to San Clemente and Aliso Niguel.
In the victory over Dana Hills, the No. 1 pairing of Lola Heckman and Kira Elliot earned a quick 21-13, 21-10 win over their opponents.
Meanwhile, Blake Saunders and Paylin Marcillac took care of business on court two, 21-8, 21-11, and Stella Peus and Talia Yoshimi won in straight sets at the threes, 21-13, 21-17. Dana Hills forfeited the fours and fives to complete the full sweep.
Santa Barbara High was swept by San Clemente, while Heckman and Elliot picked up the team’s lone win against Aliso Niguel, 21-17, 21-19.
The Dons (3-3, 0-1 Channel League) will host Arroyo Grande for a non-league contest on Monday at 3 p.m. at East Beach.
