Santa Barbara Airport closed Saturday afternoon and grounded all flights due to flooded runways.

All commercial flights and fixed-wing aircraft were grounded for most of the day and the airport reopened Sunday morning around 10:20 a.m.

Travelers should contact their airlines directly for information about specific flights, officials said. Several afternoon and nighttime flights were canceled on Saturday and Sunday, according to the airport website.Ā

Roadway flooding was widely reported in Goleta near the airport, including Hollister Avenue and Fairview Avenue, during heavy rains Saturday.

The airport previously closed on Dec. 25 due to runway flooding and had to delay and cancel several flights before reopening Dec. 26.
