San Marcos boys volleyball punched its ticket to the semifinals on the opening day of the annual Santa Barbara Tournament of Champions on Friday inside J.R. Richards Gym at Santa Barbara High.

The Royals began their day with a sweeping win over Thousand Oaks and followed that up with a gritty five-set victory over Bullard.

San Marcos will now face off against the winner of a matchup between Camarillo and Downey. The semifinals are set for Saturday at 10:45 p.m. in J.R. Richards Gym.

Dos Pueblos

The Chargers dropped their opening match of the tournament before bouncing back with a sweeping win on Friday.

Dos Pueblos suffered a three-set loss to St. John Bosco (15-25, 21-25, 17-25), but began its run at the consolation championship with a quick win over Folsom (25-19, 25-22, 25-17).

The Chargers will now take on Foothill on Saturday at 10:45 a.m. inside Sovine Gym in Goleta.

Ben Wojogbe paced the Dos Pueblos offense with 16 kills on the day, while Evan Daughtery tallied 13 and Caleb Damron ended with 10 of his own.

In the victory over Folsom, Wojogbe, Daugherty, Damron, Luca Shields, Cyrus Jay and Leo Hine all collected at least five kills.

Santa Barbara High

The Dons earned a win in their first match of the tournament, taking down Folsom in four sets, 25-20, 25-20, 22-25, 25-19.
