The Santa Maria-Bonita School Board has voted unanimously to adopt a resolution reaffirming the district’s ongoing commitment to ensuring all students, regardless of their immigration status, have access to a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment.

The action was take at the March 12 School Board meeting.

The Santa Maria-Bonita School District (SMBSD) has a longstanding commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, the district said.

“In light of ongoing concerns regarding student protections, Resolution 24-23 seeks to reaffirm the district’s pledge to support all students, ensuring they receive the educational opportunities to which they are entitled, in accordance with state and federal laws,” the district said.
