The Santa Ynez girls opened their season with a 3-0 win at Pioneer Valley Tuesday.

Weylin Hawkins opened the scoring for the Pirates in the 26th minute, finding the back of the net when Anya Newton found a gap in the Panther defense with a 35-yard free kick.

Eight minutes later, Ava Hamaoui made a deep diagonal pass to the right side of the goal area, where Janeth Davalos ran to the ball and placed a perfect cross pass that Isabella Rubio was able to convert for the second goal.

In the second half, Santa Ynez again dominated possession despite tremendous pressure from Pioneer Valley.

In the 54th minute, Newton again found a gap, playing the ball to a space where Ashlin Finely was able to take it and beat the Panther goalkeeper for the final goal.
