Southern California Edison is considering public safety power shutoffs for some South Coast customers this week.
The outages could start Wednesday, according to Santa Barbara County’s Office of Emergency Management.
SCE conducts these power shutoffs “due to heightened wildfire risk,” which could mean high temperatures, high winds, or other conditions.
Santa Barbara County, Kern County, Los Angeles County and several other California counties are listed as sites of possible PSPS this week on the SCE Outage Map.
About 2,800 Santa Barbara County customers would be affected by the outages, including the areas of North San Marcos Road, Highway 154 and East Camino Cielo, and communities west of Gaviota.

No heat or wind-related weather advisories were in effect for Santa Barbara County as of Monday night, according to the National Weather Service.
“If you live or work in or near the potentially PSPS impacted area, you should make preparations for a possible multiple day power outage,” county officials said. “Call Southern California Edison at 800.611.1911 or visit https://www.sce.com/outages-safety/outage-center/check-outage-status for more info on this potential outage.”
