With heavy hearts and profound gratitude for his life, we announce the peaceful passing of Scott F. Reid, who departed this world on March 15, 2026.
He was born on May 18, 1945, in the sunny town of Santa Monica, California, to loving parents George and Bessie Lou Reid. Scott’s journey ended surrounded by the family he cherished, after a courageous and lengthy battle with Parkinson’s Disease.
Scott was a man of many facets, each as vibrant as the next.
He was predeceased by his parents and his dear cousin Jermey, who now welcome him with open arms in the beyond.
Left to honor his memory are his beloved sons Seth Reid, Matt Reid, and Sean Kerr, along with five treasured grandchildren who were the light of his life.
His life was marked by two meaningful marriages. His first with Janet Reid, during which he cultivated a flourishing career; and the second with Jacqueline Hundley, where he embraced new adventures and personal growth. These unions framed distinct chapters in Scott’s life, each contributing to the man we knew and loved.
A scholar of the arts, Scott attended the Art Center and the UC Santa Barbara, earning a bachelor’s degree in art. This foundation sparked a lifelong passion that he joyfully shared with the world.
He channeled his creativity through Scott F. Reid and Associates Design Office, a thriving business he established in Santa Barbara, where he served the community for over 30 years.
His work with the city of Santa Barbara and the Metropolitan Transit District, among others, leaves a lasting legacy in the area he called home.
Scott was not just a man of work, but of heart. His community involvement was profound, as he dedicated time to serving meals at Transition House and delivering sustenance through Meals on Wheels. His compassion and generosity were cornerstones of his character.
Art was both his vocation and his favorite pastime. Scott’s laughter, which would echo joyfully through any space, was as recognizable as his love for Pink’s chilidogs, which he enjoyed despite the inevitable discomfort they brought.
He found peace in life’s simplicity, often seen with his feet up, savoring the serenity of the day.
A devoted father, Scott shared his passion for cycling with his sons, creating memories along the scenic bike paths of Santa Barbara and the mountainous terrains of Mammoth Mountain. His adventurous spirit and love for the outdoors were gifts he passed on to his family.
A celebration of Scott’s life will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 3 in the Sunrise Urn Garden at Santa Barbara Cemetery.
We, the Reid family, extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who touched Scott’s life in his final years. Special gratitude goes to the dedicated staff at Alexander Gardens, Valle Verde Rehabilitation, Cottage Hospital, and Central Coast Hospice for their exceptional care and support.
Scott F. Reid’s life was a canvas of love, laughter and creativity. He will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His spirit lives on in the memories and hearts of those he leaves behind.
