Deputies and other law-enforcement officers converged on a neighborhood in western Goleta on Wednesday night, searching for a suspect in an assault, according to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident was reported shortly after 7:30 p.m., Raquel Zick, sheriff’s public information officer, told Noozhawk.
Details about the assault were not provided.
The search was centered on the El Encanto Heights neighborhood north of Calle Real, between San Rossano Drive and Baker Lane.

It focused initially on the small shopping center that includes a 7-Eleven store, the El Sitio and Home Plate Grill restaurants, and the Rounding Third Sports Bar, according to emergency radio traffic.
Zick said nearby residents were not asked to take protective actions.
Deputies were checking out a home on the 7400 block of San Blanco Drive that may be the suspect’s residence, according to radio traffic, but it was unknown whether they found anything there.
A county helicopter was requested to assist in the search, but it was unable to reach the area because of weather conditions.

As of 10:30 p.m., no arrests had been reported, and radio traffic indicated the search had been discontinued.
Assisting deputies in the incident were officers from UC Santa Barbara and the California Highway Patrol.
