The Solvang Julefest’s Copenhagen Countdown will take place Wednesday afternoon rain or shine, according to organizers.
The New Year’s Eve celebration is scheduled from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Attendees will ring in the new year at 3 p.m. — midnight in Denmark.
The festive celebration will feature the Molly Ringwald Project, a top drawing 1980s tribute band, performing in Solvang Park.
The small city’s annual Julefest celebration, which began Nov. 28, will conclude Jan. 9 with the Solvang Christmas Tree Burn, starting at 5 p.m. weather permitting.
In the days after Christmas, Santa Ynez Valley residents drop off undecorated trees to create a huge pile for the burn at Mission Santa Ines.
Along with welcoming the arrival of the new year and the end of the Christmas season, the tree burn, marking its 34th year in 2026, serves as a fire safety demonstration led by the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.
Rainy weather can lead to the event’s cancellation along with muddy conditions at the site. In years where weather forced the event’s cancellation, the pile of trees became mulch.
