Believe Ranch and Rescue horse sanctuary invites the community to participate in its Celebrate Life Run 5K fundraiser, 9 a.m., Saturday Feb. 21 in the Santa Ynez countryside.
The run begins at Believe Ranch and Rescue Ranch, a refuge for horses that have been saved from abuse, neglect and slaughter. All proceeds from the event go to the nonprofit 501c3 Believe Ranch and Rescue to help save lives.
On hand to meet with race participants will be event hosts Famer Siri Lindley, two-time World Champion and Hall of Famer; and her wife Bek Keat, six-time Iron Distance Champion.
“Siri’s story is one of extraordinary resilience — having survived acute myeloid leukemia with just a 5% chance of survival — making this day a powerful reminder of what it means to celebrate life fully,” organizers said.
“This is more than a run,” they said. “It’s a celebration of life, resilience and hope, honoring those who have faced their own struggles and come through stronger.”
The event will feature local artisan and vendor markets ; baked items and food vendors ; horse rides and mini donkeys ; farm animal petting area with goats and tortoises ; and time to meet rescue horses.
