The U.S. Women’s National Water Polo team lost to Greece, 14-10, in the semifinals of the World Aquatics World Championships in Singapore early Monday.

Local players Ryann Neushul and Ava Stryker each scored in the defeat. Neushul (Dos Pueblos alum) had two goals (one on a penalty) and Styker (San Marcos alum) finished a penalty shot near the end of the first half.

Team USA struggled on the power play, going one for nine with the player advantage. Greece is assure of their best finish at the World Championships since 2011, when it won the gold medal.

The U.S. will play in the bronze-medal game against either Spain or Hungary.
