UC Santa Barbara’s women’s soccer team, the defending Big West champion, was picked second behind Hawai’i in the conference’s preseason coaches’ poll on Thursday.
The Gauchos collected three first-place votes and 84 points in the voting among 11 coaches. Hawai’i had six first-place votes and 88 points. The remaining votes went to No. 3 UC Irvine and No. 4 Long Beach State.
Sophomore Devin Greer of the Gauchos, last season’s Freshman of the Year and conference Co-MVP with teammate Sofie Rodriquez, was recognized by the coaches as a 2025 Preseason All-Big West selection. Greer scored 10 goals and had four assists in helping UCSB win the conference title for the first time since 2009. The team earned a NCAA Tournament berth and lost to Stanford in the first round.
UCSB will be on the Harder Stadium pitch on Saturday to play an exhibition match against Trinity Western of British Columbia. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m.
