An 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving after a sedan crashed into a tree early Sunday near the Santa Barbara Bowl, injuring four people.
At approximately 12:35 a.m., Santa Barbara police officers and city firefighters were dispatched to the incident near the intersection of North Milpas and Anapamu streets.
The driver of a white Audi sedan reportedly was eastbound on Anapamu Street when he failed to negotiate the 90-degree turn onto Milpas Street and slammed into a tree.
The driver and three passengers received minor to moderate injuries, police said.
All four were transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for treatment.
The driver, Sebastian Escamilla Lopez, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and felony child endangerment since a juvenile was among the passengers in the car, according to Lt. Ryan DeJohn.
Lopez will be booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail upon his release from the hospital, police added.
The names and conditions of the injured passengers were not available.
