Carrying on a tradition of community outreach and support, Westerlay Orchids has announced its Carpinteria Education Foundation Inc. (CEF) fundraiser will take place Oct. 21-26 with 100% of retail shop proceeds benefitting the local nonprofit during that period.
This is the seventh consecutive year the family-owned business has held the CEF fundraiser. In 2023, Westerlay raised some $21,335 for CEF, and hopes hoping to match that this year.
“We care about this community, and giving back to CEF and local schools has been one of our favorite ways to express appreciation for Carpinteria,” said Toine Overgaag, Westerlay’s owner/president.
“Supporting these students in an impactful way is something we look forward to doing every year,” said Overgagg, who believes in the company’s responsibility to the community.
Money raised during the week-long fundraiser will help fund library resources needed through the nonprofit CEF, which partners with schools in Summerland and Carpinteria to provide scholarship opportunities and other essential resources to local youth.
CEF also helps shape Santa Barbara’s future by offering students skill-building in science and technology, language arts, humanities, culinary arts, and agriculture.
