Santa Barbara County is blessed with a diversity of vital nonprofit organizations dedicated to improving the health, well-being, growth, civic leadership and compassion of our community.

Charitable giving and philanthropy are part of our identity, which is why Noozhawk is proud to support the nonprofit community through sponsoring local community organizations and events.

To showcase our support as a sponsor of the event, Reaching for Stars, Noozhawk spoke with Dan Noah, Director of Marketing & Communications at Youth & Family Services YMCA to learn more about their event.

Question: What is the name and date of your event?

Answer: Reaching for Stars May 1, 2025

Q: What is the mission, goal, and/or theme of this occasion?

A: Reaching for Stars is a unique fundraising event which is an intimate evening of impressive cuisine, prepared by local star chefs, fine wines, and live music by the lead singer of Raw Silk.

Our annual fundraiser comes at a time when youth throughout Santa Barbara County are counting on us more than ever before. All proceeds will benefit Noah’s Anchorage, My Home, The Lyons House, and Haley St. Navigation Center.

Q: Have you held this event before?

A: This is the 25th anniversary of the Reaching for Stars gala benefiting local at-risk youth in Santa Barbara.

Q: Tell us some more details about your celebration?

A: Join us for Reaching for Stars, a celebratory evening featuring Guest Speaker Barbara Andersen, Senior Assistant to the Santa Barbara City Administrator and a leader in homelessness and community initiatives. The event honors Roy Lee, Santa Barbara County Supervisor and longtime YMCA supporter, as Honorary Chair.

Enjoy a lively auction led by Andrew Firestone, entrepreneur and dynamic auctioneer, as well as dancing and live music. Guest will be treated to a multi course meal featuring some of Santa Barbara’s top chefs and pairing each course with wines from local vintners.

Q: How do people get involved with your event? (volunteer, attend, etc.) – If your event includes ticket sales, please note the price and include a link to purchase tickets.

A: Individual Ticket Price: $275 per person

Q: Is this a fundraising affair? If so, how will the funds raised help your organization?

A: This is Youth & Family services largest fundraising event of the year. Proceeds will go to provide a wide range of services to local community at-risk youth as well as help operate 24/7 youth shelters. Funds raised will go to programs that provide a continuum of care to youth, young adults, and families.

Thousands of youth and young adults in our community experience homelessness, cycle their way through the foster care system and face chronic stress that adversely impacts wellness and stability. Our programs are grounded in positive youth development whereby protective factors are bolstered, risk mitigated, and those in crisis have access to supportive services when they need them most.

Q: Who is sponsoring your event, and why is their support important?

A: We have a wide range of donors who provide much needed support to our programs.
