One person was transported to the hospital with moderate injuries Saturday morning after a pickup truck slammed into a building on Santa Barbara’s Eastside, per the Santa Barbara City Fire Department.
The department’s Battalion Chief Jon Turner told Noozhawk that emergency crews first responded to the intersection of Milpas and Haley streets for a report of a two-vehicle collision at around 6:31 a.m.
While one of the vehicles sustained minor damage, the other vehicle — a full-sized pickup truck — “ended up” into a building on the 500 block of Milpas Street, Turner said.
The collision caused “moderate structural damage” to the building, Turner said.
The driver of the vehicle that did not hit the building was not injured in the incident.
“Crews are currently in the process of removing the vehicle from the building,” Turner said just before 8 a.m.
He added that the city’s building inspector was en route.
Noozhawk photographer Peter Hartmann contributed reporting from the scene.
