One person sustained a moderate injury in the ocean at Coal Oil Point on Friday afternoon, according to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.

Emergency crews responded at 5:06 p.m. for a report of a water emergency off Slough Road in Isla Vista.

Fire spokeswoman Karen Cruz-Orduña said one person needed assistance to shore.

Information about the type of injury the person sustained was not available.

One person was transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.
