Cox Communications has received a defense verdict from the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia in Verizon patent litigation.

The jury found that Cox was not infringing any of Verizon’s telephone patents at issue in the case. Eight patents were originally identified in Verizon’s lawsuit. Two were voluntarily withdrawn by Verizon before the trial began; the jury found Cox not to be infringing on six Verizon patents and it invalidated two of the six.

Cox digital telephone remains fully functional nationwide.

Cox has more than 3 million residential and business telephone customers.
