The San Marcos Royals High School Marching Band won first place and a gold medal in the Southern California School Band & Orchestra Association Marching Band Championships in the 1A Division on Saturday at Pasadena City College.

The band, under the direction of Jason Nam, will give a special community performance at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Valley Stadium on the San Marcos campus, 4750 Hollister Ave. The community can meet band members and refreshments will be served in the cafeteria.
