Two people were critically injured Tuesday night in a collision involving a big-rig and a compact car, according to the Santa Maria Police Department.
The crash at East Stowell Road and Nicholson Avenue occurred at about 7 p.m. when the car pulled in front of a large semi tractor-trailer, said Sgt. Jason Zichuhr.
Two people in the car suffered major injuries, and were taken by AMR ambulance to Marian Regional Medical Center, Zichuhr said.
A third occupant of the car had minor injuries, and was released from the hospital after treatment.
The names of the victims and details on their conditions were not available.
The collision remained under investigation by the Police Department.
