Two drivers were injured, one critically, in a head-on collision on Highway 166 near Cuyama late Sunday night, according to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.

The 11:10 p.m. crash happened about a mile west of Highway 33.

One driver was airlifted to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital with major injuries, and the other was transported to Marian Regional Medical Center in Santa Maria by AMR ambulance with moderate injuries, County Fire officials said.

Their names and details on their conditions were not available.

Photographs of the scene show major damage to both vehicles.

There were no passengers in the involved vehicles, and no other injuries were reported.

The cause of the collision was under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
